FUJIYA & MIYAGI: Ankle Injury

The deceptive Brighton band with the Japanese name releases a killer single from their Transparent Things album, complemented with a joyously concocted music video directed by Wade Shotter. The comparisons to Michel Gondry's lego inspired clip for The White Stripes will undoubtedly pour in, this video takes a similar animation route but keeps it on the 2D side with the added texture of using dice. Colours and numbers add a cool nifty edge to the video which is a perfect marriage with the equally cool nifty Fujiya & Miyagi single. Watch the music video (qt).

KASABIAN: Me Plus One

Psychedelic glam rock is the new resurgence fighting for real estate against eighties hyper-neon new rave on the hip radar. Kasabian are not necessarily known as originators of the movement, but certain are no detractors from the current movement. This erotic hallucinogenic little white rabbit of a video, complete with black and white drama exploding in flowing psychoactive coloured dancers, is directed by Scott Lyons. SCISSOR SISTERS: Kiss You Off

After the mid tempo balladeering of their last single, New York cabaret glam popsters Scissor Sisters return to dancefloor filling form with this dance track. Helmed by Ana Matronic on lead vocals and that terrifying lyrical wit only earned through years of gay culture, this video, directed by Robert Hales, takes inspiration for 60's mod fashion, beauty salon aesthetics and the band's signature camp. THE ENRIGHT HOUSE: Solitaire

Remember those trippy videos cliptip adored from Vancouver moody electronic artist Circlesquare? Well, we've recently discovered a new prog rock, electronic group from Christchurch, New Zealand with a similar atmospheric pulse. All you arty indie kids get ready for something you'll want to file besides your collection of Sigur Ros CD's, Mogwai vinyl and M83 EPs. The video is directed by fellow New Zealander Ed Lust. QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: Go With The Flow

Sure there's a brand new video for QOTSA called Sick Sick Sick. Sure there are hate filled restrictions on viewing the new video on Yahoo. Yeah, I said it. But that is not why where here, right? It's not about the means of distribution. It's about the music. And QOTSA are a hard rock favourite here on cliptip because they are nothing but rock. Rock rock rock. !!!: Must Be The Moon

Continuing with the moon theme, this is the latest from !!! (chk chk chk) the New York based collection of disco punksters. The political agitation has been noticeably toned down, although not eliminated on the new album, and this video showcases the disco house party philosophy with out the literal anti-Bush-isms. Though touched with war paint embellishments, the kitchen party jams and hot melting pot mamas make this single irresistible to the thinking man's dancefloor. I just hope he's not wearing real fur. FEIST: My Moon, My Man

Not too long ago I posted the 'GAP ad' reminiscent clip for Feist's single 1234. This video is actually the first single from her excellent third full length release, The Reminder, so I got the order a little mixed up. Directed by Patrick Daughters, it also features some quirky choreography but thus time involving airport conveyor belt sidewalks and a passenger possessing rhythm. Matched with an upbeat pop tempo and a piano riff with just a subtle touch of glam, this one's already a cliptip favourite. Watch the music video (qt).

MARK RONSON: Stop Me

British born, New York based deejay and producer Mark Ronson collects a high-profile celebrity collaborated album of cover versions in his signature soul funk style. Enlisting everyone from bad girl lush Amy Winehouse, ambisexual Robbie Williams, mouthy cutie Lily Allen, rockers Kasabian or California sunshiners Phantom Planet, to cleveryly interpret such modern charters as Toxic by Britney Spears, Just by Radiohead, or Oh my God by the Kaiser Chiefs. cleverly This is the first video takes on the Smiths original, with soul crooning vocals by Australian Daniel Merriweather. BLONDE REDHEAD: 23

I am currently lamenting the fact that I have completely missed the boat on getting tickets to the now sold out show of Blonde Redhead this Saturday (May 12th) at Club Soda (Montreal), but at least I have this video to comfort me. Listed off the latest album, the trio continue to navigate further from the Sonic Youth comparisons into a unique indie sound of their own. Photographer and director Melodie McDaniel directs this one, a feverish, ghostly-imaged that echoes the singles kinetic pace with Kazu Makino's enrapturing vocal delivery. BONDE DO ROLE: Solta O Frango

Lately, the favela sound of Brazil has been a cruel obsession. Hailing from Curitiba, the trio mix influences as diverse as heavy metal, hip hop, miami bass and afro-brazilian, have gotten signed to Diplo's Mad Decent label, and have already been shortlisted as one of Rolling Stone Magazine's top 10 bands to watch. DJ MEHDI: I Am Somebody

Paris DJ Medhi teams up with Montreal Dave 1 of Chromeo for a killer electrofunk pop locker. The simple, old school vibing video directed by So-Me underlies a single so killer, everytime I throw it down at a party, the kids all line up and ask who it is. The album , Lucky Boy, drops digitally statesides eminently. Watch the music video (qt).

BECK: Nausea

There's very little to say about Beck that hasn't been said already. He's just cool. This video is no exception. Sure its a lot slicker than the average (it was directed by Patrick Daughters) and features his long strawberry-blond locks is various stages of wind effect, but the single itself can speak for itself. Sure its hip-vague lyrics espouse disgust in various forms of conservatism, religion and senseless wandering through deserts (Middle East war perhaps?), but hell, it's got a great beat and totally funky bridge to rock your bod to. LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: All My Friends

Is that James Murphy or the incredible Hulk merged with Ziggy Stardust? The second video from the really really awesome second album from the LCD Soundsystem is directed by Tom Kuntz. While I enjoy this track, it is far from my favourite on the album. Plink plink plinky pianos seem to channel the arty experimental reflections of mid-90's Orbital or Steve Reich. METRIC: Empty

Who says cliptip doesn't have scoop? Here's the latest from Toronto's Metric, fronted by the electrifying Emily Haines. Recently slotted into the Toronto chapter of Mr. Branson's Virgin Music Festival 2007 on picturesque Toronto Island, it is cliptip's wish to have some websavvy promotional folks slide over some free tickets to give away to some cliptip savvy readers... I'd also like a nice silver porsche. Anyhoo, this single is a harder edge angle to the usually bounding pop friendly Metric sound, matched with the same lyrical bite as ever. More visual goodness from Director Jaron Albertin, this time channeling object throwing telekinetics in a poltergeist-friendly household objects unfriendly video. Watch the music video (qt).

JUNIOR BOYS: In The Morning

Hamilton electropop princes, the Junior Boys, finally have a video for their most excellent second album, So This Is Goodbye. While the new album is roughly a year or so old, it still bears the marks of a retro futurist pop gem, thanks to the smooth and shy croon of Jeremy Greenspan, as well as the partnership of new-ish member Matt Didemus. Surealist video director, cliptip favourite and recent London transplant Jaron Albertin, shoots a montage of moonbeam struck urbanites, who all succumb to the silver reflecting pool of subconsciousness. THE WHITE STRIPES: I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

This is a video that slots into that timeless kinda zone. Prompted by the recent internet spillage of their new single, Icky Thump, this is bluesy stipper-friendly single from their Elephant record is, in fact, a clever Burt Bacharach cover. And when I say stipper-friendly, I can only mean the waif-iest of strippers. Directed by Sofia Coppola, the 'former' coke hoovering Kate Moss twists, bends, and cavorts her way into our collective memory thanks to this stunning black and white striper. ALBERT HAMMOND JR.: 101

What's a Stroke to do? So you've got a simmering talent that's confounded with a Ross Geller demeanor and a Sideshow Bob hairstyle. So your fancy Swiss education reflexes you to call bullshit when hiptards try to drop pretense. So you band mate is son of some international jail-bait / modeling agency. Does that mean you let the world hold you back? Hell no. And that's exactly what young Albert Hammond, Jr. said to his naysayers. Signed to completely obscure and critically unmonitored record label, Rough Trade, he releases a bitch of a pop album gem, with cartoon allusions, nursery rhyme allegories and some rather tuneful songs to the cuddly hipster set. Patrick Daughters directs the video of this young New Yorker's musical resurrection post a tragic and fatal bicycling accident. For cycling in a vintage light grey three piece suit with white patent leather shoes, is it any wonder why someone ran him off the road leaving him a doe-eyed , decomposing zombie? BAT FOR LASHES: Prescilla

Natasha Khan, the lead woman behind London's Bat For Lashes has been generated UK music rag heat for the past couple of months. I picked up her debut on Echo Records while on a trip to the UK recently and I have not been disappointed. The middle eastern influences meld nicely with the contemporary instrumentation and downtempo electronic hi-jinks some journos would term trip-hop. But make no mistake, the dark, brooding and sparse atmospheres created stir a mood currently lacking in popular music. The video is directed by Andy Bruntel @ the directors bureau. MUSE: Invincible

It starts out as an amusement park ride, like a Tunnel of Love, with a martial snare drum and church organ. Matt Belamy's vocals kick in as as slow build, cooing at the universe while that howling UFO sound effect thing whirls around in the background. Yes, folks, it's a Muse ballad that bears a striking resemblance to Meatloaf. That's right, I said it. But its not as dire as it may seem. It has some strange moments that channel Coldplay and stranger moments where it channels Muse's brand of metal rock riffage. NOISETTES: Scratch Your Name

London trio Noisettes rock a punk pop aesthetic like a British Yeah Yeah Yeahs pissing pints and preening London street fashion. Lead singer Shingai Shoniwa is a statuesque vocalist and bassist who is easy on eyes will kittie on the lyric. If there hype machine gets its act together North American side, expect big things. If you one of lucky ones to have nabbed Coachella 2007 tickets, enjoy them live. Watch the music video (qt).

BUMBLEBEEZ: Dr. Love

This is one of the best new releases I have witnessed in a while. Dusty hip hop beats, a killer funk bassline, hip cats from down under, and a brilliant music video from director Tom Kuntz. Even if you're not a huge fan of hip hop, this video will have you enraptured long enough to get into the groove. The concept is simple: pimping homies strutting down the street with body art, gold chains, ski masks, eye patches, and tattoos all drawn on with Sharpies. So simple, so freaking cool. Hiptards and douchebags congregate for a fourth episode of Dueling Deejays. It's all over again with a triumphant slavishly compiled Pitchfork set list of names to drop by bands you don't really like but feel socially obligated to. TOKYO POLICE CLUB: Cheer It On

Newmarket is rocketing up from that north of Toronto suburb to an indie rock mecca. Well, maybe mecca is an overstatement, but their hometown indie heroes TPC is still riding high off their buzzworthy E.P. This is the second video I've been able to find and it is directed by Sean Wainsteim and his many toys. Pleasant mild manner toy train figures go completely apocalyptic in this simple and effective narrative. Watch the music video (qt).

FEIST: 1234

Did you know this is the second video from the lovely Leslie Feist's third long player? Yes, it's album release number three, and if you own here very first album, Monarch, you are one lucky bastard (send me a copy, 'kay?) Feist plays her alluring sultry self in this sparkly, colourful choreographed number, described by many as a Gap ad in training. Not officially, but considering her electroclash BFF Peaches featured a track in a recent Gap ad, who really knows? The Reminder, the album is out soon. Can't wait for what's guaranteed to be excellent summer listening. Directed by Patrick Daughters, it is irresistible to not fall in love with Feist's easy breezy coolness. BJÖRK: Earth Intruders

Gawd, I love the internet. While most corporations fear the leak, its possibly the best way to satisfy the incessant buzzing of obsessive music fans. I, along with probably much of the blog-o-sphere, have been quite anxiously awaiting what the Björkster will produce with her forthcoming studio album Volta. And while the constant hand-wringing over her collaborators (notably including LFO's Mark Bell, Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons, Congo's Konono #1, and current supernova beatsmith Timbaland) has generally subsided, the press junkette keeps churning out quirky Bjork media magnetic headlines. This single is a joyous fusion of afro-beat energy, earth conscious lyrics and modern synthetic edge. And while the video has leaked, this one's still worth buying. No matter what, quality gets bought, not stolen. Can't wait for the live show. Directed by French director / animator Michel Ocelot. Watch the music video (mp4).
