BJÖRK: Wanderlust

You've no doubt heard the hype of this amazing new Bjork video. Directed by Manhattan based art collective Encyclopedia Pictura, not only is the clip a return to the fantastical world of Bjork's earlier music video work, but is considered a return to a golden age of all music videos- iconic, innovative, powerfully influential and musically illustrative. Combining puppetry, computer animation, miniatures and live action, the concept revolves around "creating mytho-poetic cosmology of a primitive world complete with water deities and the struggle towards the future. The main theme being nomadism since it is for the track ‘Wanderlust.’ Unfortunately this version is only in 2 dimensions, but there is the originally concieved 3D version out there... BJÖRK: Declare Independence

If you were a follower of this site, you obviously have seen this video already. I mean why wait for me to plug this stuff when you can easily just youtube it and have done with it, right? Well, at least you can get the podcasted cliptip. The reunion of Bjork and Michel Gondry is quite an event as they historically made such cool shit together. This video is no different. Thrashy techno shouty girl from Iceland brings another epic of microclasmic proportions. A spray-painted moebius loop of snowballing, recycled energy defines this video overshadowing the individual participating players. I hear this song originally was intended for Greenland, which Denmark apparently lays claim over. Rebellion and rock 'n roll. How Scandinavian of me. Watch the music video (qt).

BJÖRK: Earth Intruders

Gawd, I love the internet. While most corporations fear the leak, its possibly the best way to satisfy the incessant buzzing of obsessive music fans. I, along with probably much of the blog-o-sphere, have been quite anxiously awaiting what the Björkster will produce with her forthcoming studio album Volta. And while the constant hand-wringing over her collaborators (notably including LFO's Mark Bell, Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons, Congo's Konono #1, and current supernova beatsmith Timbaland) has generally subsided, the press junkette keeps churning out quirky Bjork media magnetic headlines. This single is a joyous fusion of afro-beat energy, earth conscious lyrics and modern synthetic edge. And while the video has leaked, this one's still worth buying. No matter what, quality gets bought, not stolen. Can't wait for the live show. Directed by French director / animator Michel Ocelot. Watch the music video (mp4).

BJÖRK: Hidden Place

I don't know about you, but over here at cliptip headquarters, we've been going a little bonkers in anticipation of the new album from Iceland's Bjork. With a slew of collaborators cued up including Mercury Prize triller Antony Hegarty (of Antony and the Johnsons), Brian Chippendale of the Lightning Bolt, Congo's Konono No. 1, and hip hop producer Timbaland, as well as familar faces such as poet Sjon and producer Mark Bell, it promises to be quite an occasion. The preamble to the release has been discrete to say the least, but the festival dates are indeed piling up, including Southern California's Coachella, Denmark's Rokslide Festival and England's perenial Glastonbury. The video is lifted from the Vespertine album and features the art project aesthetics of the brilliant fashion visionnairies, Inez+Vinoodh and M/M Paris. Watch the music video (qt).

BJÖRK: Nature Is Ancient

It's been a while since I've posted a Björk video, likely because she's just not had any new videos. And for anyone who's seen the Drawing Restaint 9 art film in which Björk appears, you probably don't want to relive the "let's make sashimi out of each other" leg carving scene ever again. Ever. So here is a rare track that appears on her Family Tree compilation with a mutant and fetus-like video directed by digital art collective Lynn Fox. It's odd, but what do you expect from the woman voted as the world's most eccentric artist? Watch the video (qt).

BJÖRK: Cocoon

This is perhaps one of my favourite Björk tracks- a soothing delicate tapestry of warm electronic sounds flickering with insectlike percussion. The Japanese visual artist Eiko Ishioka, best know for her visual work on Tarsem Singh's feature debut The Cell and costume design for Bram Stoker's Dracula, directs this piecee, her first music video. It is equally stark, chilling and beautiful. Watch the video (qt).

BJÖRK: Who Is It? (Carry My joy On The Left, Carry My Pain On The Right)

Director Dawn Shadforth gives us the eccentric elf with ringing bells on Iceland's barren lava flows. A simple clean execution of a beautiful single. Look for Bjork's soundtrack collaboration for the art film Drawing Restraint 9 with significant other and epic visual artist Matthew Barney. Watch the video (qt).

BJÖRK: Where Is The Line

Bjork goes properly over edge with this video directed by mate Gabriela. Witness her downward spiral from relevant, boundry pushing artist, to Yoko Ono-esque conceptual nutter. Thankfully, it's not one of my favourite tracks from the Medulla album, because the spitting up of clear jelly gunk kind of leaves me with that strange, icky feeling. Watch the video (qt).

BJÖRK: Triumph Of A Heart

The Icelandic music eccentric joins forces with American film eccentric, Spike Jonze, to create a humourous, light hearted love story between pink clad, gold lamé booted fashion plate and humanoid man-cat. Witness a dissatisfied Björk boozing up on the town, slagging about drunk on cold pavement, and inciting an impromptu a cappella breakdown at a local Reykjavik pub. Watch the video (qt).
