HOT CHIP: Wrestlers

Weird pop has a home here. Hot Chip, usually keeps the pulses racing with danceable indie pleasing electro, but today they move at a mid tempo pace with this weird pop single. The video, directed by Rollo Jackson, ups the game with a cameo by half of DFA slash LCD Soundsystem mastermind, Mr. James Murphy. Is it me? I don't find this track an obvious single. LADYHAWKE: Paris Is Burning

More Paris love letters, this time from the excellent Modular signed New Zealand retro-electro-popster Ladyhawke. Far less romantic, this highly infectious tune reminds us more of outhful parties of yesteryear. The video is directed by Casper Balslev. Watch the music video (qt).

PACIFIC: Hot Lips

The news school of electropop brilliance has emerged outside of France and is now firmly nestled in Sweden. Pacific! is one of the new vanguards of Swedish electropop and this gorgeously illustrated video directed by Stephane Manel is a shining example of music and video coming together in perfect harmony. LADYHAWKE: My Delirium

Pip Brown's alter ego Ladyhawke lifts itself off the eighties fantasy film of the same name. It's no wonder that her sound riffs off the similar era, but amped up with hip kid cred by signing label Modular (a perpetual cliptip favourite). Enjoy the accompanying Partizan music video directed by the duo known as Frater with the water-colour talents of illustrator Sarah Larnach. Watch the music video (qt).

LYKKE LI: Breaking It Up

Swedish indie darling Lykke Li is here to break it up. This poptastic single straddles the indie pop credibility with production nods to Peter Bjorn and John's Björn Yttling and a booty shaking beat worthy of electro kid gyrations. The video is a smokey collection of Factory-esque ennui, moopy dancing and Warholing on-screen preening. From her excellent debut album, Youth Novels. Watch the music video (qt).

ANNIE: I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me

Norwegian electropop darling, Annie, is back with a second long player due shortly. The first is a sugary confection produced by Richard X and while lacks in feats of musical innovation, lands squarely in the sweet spot of top girly bubblegum pop. Directed by Sarah Chatfield in hypercolour make-up. Watch the music video (qt).

ROISIN MURPHY: You Know Me Better

Scouring the net for high quality versions of music clips is increasingly like finding a needle in a haystack. More people are moving to streaming or flash related displays and that truly sucks for cliptip. But better late than never, I've been able to locate this gem of a track and video from cliptip favourite, Irish pop eccentric Roisin Murphy (ex of electro trip-pop Moloko fame) collaborating with another cliptip favourite, now London based director Jaron Albertin. Taking inspiration of stark conceptual photographer Cindy Sherman, the video features Roisin in various modes of dress and hair dress. A killer disco-pop track that deserves a hell of a lot more attention than she currently gets. Watch the music video (qt).

SAM SPARRO: Black And Gold

Look out Jamie Lidell. Los Angeles based soul electrofunkster Sam Sparro is riding a blogospheric wave of hype usually reserved for NME endorsed indie band-o-the-week. The slick production and the soulful croon of this blue eyed boy will equally satisfy Maroon 5 to 9ers and French Touchtards. The LA style blinged video is directed by Alexandliane. THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS: Do It Again

The Chemical Brothers are at it again with a brand new slice of electropop in the vein of a pumped up Hot Chip. Enlisting funkster vocalist Ali Love, what the track lacks in block rocking break beats, it compensates for in pop sensibility. The new album, We Are The Night, is delayed until July 17th due to problems with the "production of the album artwork." Michael Haussman directs the convulsing, compulsive Moroccan take on the Gods Must Be Crazy vs the Heist. Watch the music video (qt).

JUNIOR BOYS: In The Morning

Hamilton electropop princes, the Junior Boys, finally have a video for their most excellent second album, So This Is Goodbye. While the new album is roughly a year or so old, it still bears the marks of a retro futurist pop gem, thanks to the smooth and shy croon of Jeremy Greenspan, as well as the partnership of new-ish member Matt Didemus. Surealist video director, cliptip favourite and recent London transplant Jaron Albertin, shoots a montage of moonbeam struck urbanites, who all succumb to the silver reflecting pool of subconsciousness.
