ROISIN MURPHY: You Know Me Better

Scouring the net for high quality versions of music clips is increasingly like finding a needle in a haystack. More people are moving to streaming or flash related displays and that truly sucks for cliptip. But better late than never, I've been able to locate this gem of a track and video from cliptip favourite, Irish pop eccentric Roisin Murphy (ex of electro trip-pop Moloko fame) collaborating with another cliptip favourite, now London based director Jaron Albertin. Taking inspiration of stark conceptual photographer Cindy Sherman, the video features Roisin in various modes of dress and hair dress. A killer disco-pop track that deserves a hell of a lot more attention than she currently gets. Watch the music video (qt).

ROISIN MURPHY: Overpowered

I freaking love this song. Roisin Murphy is really building a career on her terms, maintaining an eccentricity and electricity so unique and inspired that she never appears to sell out. On her second solo long player away from Moloko, she collaborates with a collection of ground breaking producers including Groove Armada and Seiji of Bugz In The Attic. This video, also brilliantly directed by Jamie Thraves @ Factory, is an amazing contrasting send-up of Roisin's post-glamourous performance persona. Watch as she traipses around London performing mundane tasks such as riding the bus home, buying after-hour chips at the local kebab shop, and collect her laundry, all while garbed in a ridiculously over the top Gareth Pugh dress. Could the Moloko singer's solo eccentric and avant chic project be turning her in Björk-esque left of pop icon? Let's tally the score: both have distinctive vocal styles, both collaborate with cutting edge producers to manifest their unique artistic vision, both have gone solo after fronting ground breaking left of centre bands, both ooze style like bonefide fashion plates and both have strange accents in their names. RÓISÍN MURPHY: If We're In Love

The Irish singer from the nutter band Moloko goes solo with her first album. Collaborating with producer Matthew Herbert, this single is as over the top as any of the Moloko pieces, but different in a less cartoony way and more in a drama queen artiste fashion.
