Another odd single, this time from Montreal electro-funksters Chromeo. The electric piano is in full deployment with Dave 1's smooth pop vocals and spritey lyrics. TV ON THE RADIO: Owl And Stork

TV On The Radio ramp up a mid tempo single with a Petrofilms directed stop motion video. It's a collage lion headed angel man flying forever upwards in what I can only describe as artsy noodlemauchen. Watch the music video (qt).

PACIFIC: Hot Lips

The news school of electropop brilliance has emerged outside of France and is now firmly nestled in Sweden. Pacific! is one of the new vanguards of Swedish electropop and this gorgeously illustrated video directed by Stephane Manel is a shining example of music and video coming together in perfect harmony. BLOC PARTY: One Month Off

Bloc Party raid your classic fairytales with modern weapons of war in this latest video directed by the D.A.D.D.Y. team. The band, again, avoid actually appearing in the video, instead opting to portray the music with innocents Red Riding Hood and Miss Muffet getting mowed down by tanks and grenades. JUSTICE: DVNO

Okay, so at first I was a bit blase about the Justice album as I really had high expectations riding on the dancefloor destroyers and Kanye West robbers We Are Your Friends and Waters Of Nazareth. I've really warmed to the studio album over the past couple of months, as I've made a more concerted effort to listen to the album as a whole. And it grows. So I'm slapping another Justice video up, also directed by So Me, riffing the lyrics to popular logo designs. Dansez, maintenant! Watch the music video (qt).

Time for a golden oldie. Truthfully, I wanted to post this video ages ago, but these days, it is getting increasingly harder to find hi-quality music videos to give you. Streaming videos truly blow (record labels pay heed!) and watching YouTube is immediate but is the same as watching scrambled porn- all the money shots are pixelated to shit. SPEKTRUM: Kinda New (We All Live And Die)

The original track gets a killer remix and release in 2007 by Dirty South. Dazzling neon animations courtesy of Blinkin LAB. This track sharpens the Spektrum sound of 80's inspired electronica funk to a jagged, razor etched sheen to satisfy the South Beach sparkle crowd as well as the assymetricals of Williamsburg. THE HIDDEN CAMERAS: Death Of A Tune

Has you seen Dream Girls yet? It's a rather telling story of music that rose up from a subculture and was subsequently watered down (i.e. sanitised) to ensure mainstream acceptability. This is sort of what I feel about the latest incarnation of the Hidden Cameras. The initial joy has sort of wanned on the Joel Gibb lead Toronto ensemble. The provocative gay sexuality themed odes to uninhibited dancing has been replace with a moderated aim at pop success. Add to that the usual suspects of the troop that loyal followers of the band have been largely replaced (i.e. defected). While the single is still tuneful and the Louis-Philippe Eno directed animated video a twee treat to behold, somehow something has been extracted without something invigorating re-injected. O.LAMM: Aerialist

Do you know O.Lamm? He's a crazy beat technician? Need more? "O.Lamm is odot.lamm, is o.l.lamm, is opoint l., is slow learner, is odot sings. Electronic musician. He likes weird noise, upbeat wizardry, spiraling crawling hooks and pompous melodies. Generates sounds from nothing as much as he kneads natural sounds through the technological prism, his prime purpose simply being to put his idealised vision of pop music into concrete form. In a few words, Olivier uses softwares, love, and snow and blends them to make music." This music video is awesome, from the electronic wizardry to the Mumbleboy drawn visuals.
