EDITORS: The Racing Rats

Wow. There sure are a lot to videos to catch up on. Including this one from Birmingham moody rockers, Editors. Their second album is a slow burn of great melodies and deliberately vague lyrics. Just like the first one. This video is, not surprisingly no different, taking inspiration from bleek sixties carbon copy suburban colonies, slow motion and spacious. Directed by Vincent Haycock at Streetgang Films, lead singer Tom Smith emotes like an underfed Orlando Bloom while an adorable blonde toddlerette poses and chalk sketches eclipes with dramatic effect to pleasing her overbearing stage-mom to tears. EDITORS: The End Has A Start

Second single from the second album, Editors continue to blast angular rock anthems in keys minor. Going neck and neck versus Interpol for most coveted downer rockers, this latest single is showing Editors are indeed fighters. The video, featuring all manner of colourful stocking clad dancers has unusual bursts of colours unexpected from this genre. Director Diane Martel adds straight-faced coal-eyed choreography to Tom Smith's optimistic lyrics. Watch the music video (qt).

THE BEES: Who Cares What The Question Is?

Sure it seems honky tonky, but its really the next psychedelic single from post-post-retro-rockers the Bees (or as they're called in the US, A Band Of Bees). Again defying their Isle of Wright origins for dusty Americana sounds, the six piece recruit auteur Chris Hopewell to direct this sunshine on the horizon plasticine magic van slash Moby Dick adventure slash city tour bus clip. THE BEES: Listening Man

Okay. Here's my tiny rant: why the hell is this goddamn record only available on import? I walked into the local record store and to my delight, this lovely third album from The Bees was on sale! On closer inspection, it was priced at $32.99. HIGHWAY effing ROBBERY! Why is it that record labels are soooo consumed with stupid chart topping crap acts? Are they trying to drive me to P2P downloading? I should have picked it up while in London and ate the exchange rate. Well, these blokes from the Isle of Wright and their psychedelic ways are supposed to be released stateside June 5th. So if you like their flavour as much as I do, go go plastic. KASABIAN: Me Plus One

Psychedelic glam rock is the new resurgence fighting for real estate against eighties hyper-neon new rave on the hip radar. Kasabian are not necessarily known as originators of the movement, but certain are no detractors from the current movement. This erotic hallucinogenic little white rabbit of a video, complete with black and white drama exploding in flowing psychoactive coloured dancers, is directed by Scott Lyons. QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: Go With The Flow

Sure there's a brand new video for QOTSA called Sick Sick Sick. Sure there are hate filled restrictions on viewing the new video on Yahoo. Yeah, I said it. But that is not why where here, right? It's not about the means of distribution. It's about the music. And QOTSA are a hard rock favourite here on cliptip because they are nothing but rock. Rock rock rock. So buckle up for this awesome Shynola directed video from yesteryear. Yeah, if we don't have control, at least we go with the flow. Bullocks! Era Vulgaris, the new long player hits stores June 12th. BLONDE REDHEAD: 23

I am currently lamenting the fact that I have completely missed the boat on getting tickets to the now sold out show of Blonde Redhead this Saturday (May 12th) at Club Soda (Montreal), but at least I have this video to comfort me. Listed off the latest album, the trio continue to navigate further from the Sonic Youth comparisons into a unique indie sound of their own. Photographer and director Melodie McDaniel directs this one, a feverish, ghostly-imaged that echoes the singles kinetic pace with Kazu Makino's enrapturing vocal delivery. THE WHITE STRIPES: I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

This is a video that slots into that timeless kinda zone. Prompted by the recent internet spillage of their new single, Icky Thump, this is bluesy stipper-friendly single from their Elephant record is, in fact, a clever Burt Bacharach cover. And when I say stipper-friendly, I can only mean the waif-iest of strippers. Directed by Sofia Coppola, the 'former' coke hoovering Kate Moss twists, bends, and cavorts her way into our collective memory thanks to this stunning black and white striper. MUSE: Invincible

It starts out as an amusement park ride, like a Tunnel of Love, with a martial snare drum and church organ. Matt Belamy's vocals kick in as as slow build, cooing at the universe while that howling UFO sound effect thing whirls around in the background. Yes, folks, it's a Muse ballad that bears a striking resemblance to Meatloaf. That's right, I said it. But its not as dire as it may seem. It has some strange moments that channel Coldplay and stranger moments where it channels Muse's brand of metal rock riffage. TOKYO POLICE CLUB: Cheer It On

Newmarket is rocketing up from that north of Toronto suburb to an indie rock mecca. Well, maybe mecca is an overstatement, but their hometown indie heroes TPC is still riding high off their buzzworthy E.P. This is the second video I've been able to find and it is directed by Sean Wainsteim and his many toys. Pleasant mild manner toy train figures go completely apocalyptic in this simple and effective narrative. Watch the music video (qt).

POP LEVI: Sugar Assault Me Now

Skinny jean. Check. Skinny suspenders. Check. Glam rock sound. Check. Ninjatune recording artist. Whatzat? Yes, this minstrel of glam rock electro pop fusion is Pop Levi of Ninjatune. His first solo video we showcased here caused quite a stir. And now, another, more striped down video but equally glam-rocking. The debut solo album, The Return To Form Black Magick Party, is slated to infiltrate hipsterdom in 2007. Embrace it! Watch the music video (qt).

BLOC PARTY: The Prayer

We at cliptip are salivating at the veritable avalanche of awesome music anticipated for 2007. For the next couple of days, I'll be posting videos of artists who are cueing up the promotional machinery to launch new albums this year. Amongst those anticipated is the incomparable Bloc Party with the sophomore album, A Weekend In The City. This is the first video and it is bloody electric. The percussion is particularly rocking, calling to mind an urgent Queen, while the video imagery is absolutely hallucinogenic. I love it. And it's fresh off the presses just for you.
