NOISETTES: Scratch Your Name

London trio Noisettes rock a punk pop aesthetic like a British Yeah Yeah Yeahs pissing pints and preening London street fashion. Lead singer Shingai Shoniwa is a statuesque vocalist and bassist who is easy on eyes will kittie on the lyric. If there hype machine gets its act together North American side, expect big things. If you one of lucky ones to have nabbed Coachella 2007 tickets, enjoy them live. Watch the music video (qt).

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: North American Scum

It is a rare occasion indeed when I post a flash based video. The quality of the video is often poor, but in this case, I could not resist. One of my favourite bands, the LCD Soundsystem, is about to set loose a brand new sophomore cd, The Sound Of Silver, onto an unsuspecting global underground. Well, probably not too unsuspecting, as there is a pronounced cult-like following to James Murphy and co. The track laments the band's oft confused origins. How can some American band sound so good? Well, they are that bloody good for me to post a flash based MySpace video. That good. This track's chorus has gorgeous glam rock howls that makes me wanna bolan boogie. Witness the foil coated Warholian factory meets Space Odyssey 2001 lunar landing music video. Cheers to Danyon for the tip. Anyone find it on quicktime, let me know and I'll link that baby up. Directed by Ben Dickinson. Watch the music video (ms). Update: Whoo hoo! Watch the music video (qt).

YEAH YEAH YEAHS: Cheated Hearts

Contest videos are fun, but only in small limited edition doses. The Yeah Yeah Yeah's embarked on a web-courted video submission project where fans all over the world send in their best imitation of the band. The cream of the crop gets spliced into the final cut. And here it is. See if you town is representing. Watch the music video (qt).

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: Daft Punk Is Playing At My House

James Murphy, half of the NYC based DFA production team, finalizes the debut album from side project LCD Soundsystem. Riffing off his seminal aging hipster rant "I'm Losing My Edge", Murphy continues with his affection for French electronic pranksters Daft Punk with this post-punk, post-electro, post-ironic gem. Featured in the clip are the costumed characters of Daft Punk's "Around The World" video shot in sputtering stop motion photography. Watch the video (qt).
