LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: All My Friends

Is that James Murphy or the incredible Hulk merged with Ziggy Stardust? The second video from the really really awesome second album from the LCD Soundsystem is directed by Tom Kuntz. While I enjoy this track, it is far from my favourite on the album. Plink plink plinky pianos seem to channel the arty experimental reflections of mid-90's Orbital or Steve Reich. LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: North American Scum

It is a rare occasion indeed when I post a flash based video. The quality of the video is often poor, but in this case, I could not resist. One of my favourite bands, the LCD Soundsystem, is about to set loose a brand new sophomore cd, The Sound Of Silver, onto an unsuspecting global underground. Well, probably not too unsuspecting, as there is a pronounced cult-like following to James Murphy and co. The track laments the band's oft confused origins. How can some American band sound so good? Well, they are that bloody good for me to post a flash based MySpace video. That good. This track's chorus has gorgeous glam rock howls that makes me wanna bolan boogie. Witness the foil coated Warholian factory meets Space Odyssey 2001 lunar landing music video. Cheers to Danyon for the tip. Anyone find it on quicktime, let me know and I'll link that baby up. Directed by Ben Dickinson. Watch the music video (ms). Update: Whoo hoo! Watch the music video (qt).

Wednesday

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: Losing My Edge

While Toronto shook with the thundering sounds of LCD Soundsystem and the Juan MacLean, at the Return To New York party , I was blissfully pounding pints in London's Soho district hurling explitives at Madonna's exclusive G-A-Y concert at the London Astoria. Normally, I would have killed to see the LCD Soundsystem play (they are very tight and very high energy indeed), but my fair share of DFA related mayhem was already sufficiently fulfilled with a DFA party featuring Tim Goldsworthy at London Shoreditch's Plastic People deejay gig. This classic was played to much fanfare. It's as fresh and relevant as it was when it was first released. Such a sorry state of hipsterdom at the brink of maturity. Watch the video (qt).

Sunday

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: Tribulations

Brand spanking new electro synth gem from the New York project headed by the DFA's James Murphy. The video uses interesting techniques of footage and projected footage of Mr. Murphy taversing up and down and all around the neighbourhood. Watch the video (qt).

Saturday

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: Disco Infiltrator

Latest from James Murphy and co. One of the funky jams that inspires tapping toes, or befuddled looks. It's called success. Some people get it, others, resent it. Polarising or not, I still love the LCD. Watch the video (qt).

Tuesday

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: Movement

Electro punk dance floor destroying funk. New York style. From the man with the band (and the record label) that made the indie kids dance, Mr. James Murphy. Watch the video (qt).

Thursday

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: Daft Punk Is Playing At My House

James Murphy, half of the NYC based DFA production team, finalizes the debut album from side project LCD Soundsystem. Riffing off his seminal aging hipster rant "I'm Losing My Edge", Murphy continues with his affection for French electronic pranksters Daft Punk with this post-punk, post-electro, post-ironic gem. Featured in the clip are the costumed characters of Daft Punk's "Around The World" video shot in sputtering stop motion photography. Watch the video (qt).
