GROOVE ARMADA: Get Down

Under the auspicious eye of E-Boy, Groove Armada, who I feared had disbanded, unleash a throbbing new LP and single. Perhaps we are on a bit of a bunny bender, but this video, which blends the best of the electro house zeitgeist infused with the ragga scat of vocalist Stush, video directing collective Pleix serve up an adorable rutting season mob of plush randy rabbits to maul any unsuspecting passerby with bunny spunk. Dance floors will be destoryed, casualties will be splattered. Cheers for Canada Day long weekend from Toronto. Watch the music video (qt).

BAT FOR LASHES: What's A Girl To Do?

Another hynotic single from Natasha Khan and company, also know as Bat For Lashes. Haunting and minimal are yet again the themes, shrouding Natasha's mysterious purr enveloped in harpsicord and kettle drums. The video, which already ripped across the blog-o-sphere, is a genius execution by Colonel Blimp director Dougal Wilson. Giant mascot headed BMXer's pedal, hop and twist in sync to the subtle pulsing break beats of this trip hop masterpiece. A cliptip favourite with a Donnie Darko-esque bunny headed bullet. KLAXONS: It's Not Over Yet

New rave poster boys Klaxons have a special relationship with director Saam. On their latest video, the boys suit up in avant garde samurai suits and sword to take on sentient triangloids in a Aeon Flux like future state. It markes their third collaboration with the director and perhaps a trinity of eye bleeding and smashing stuff with sticks. Colourful. Watch the music video (qt).

THE WHITE STRIPES: Icky Thump

Jack and Meg are back! Icky Thump leads the new self title long player from the Detroit duo and brings the back-to-basics blue alt-rock magic back to the fore. Does it ring of Seven National Army seminal iconic life-changing magnitude? Well no. But it is a psychedelic freak fry of grinding guitars and a steady throbbing kick drum. The Spanish subtitled carnival magic is brought to podcast screen courtesy of directing band of brothers, The Malloys. Watch the music video (qt).

ROISIN MURPHY: Overpowered

I freaking love this song. Roisin Murphy is really building a career on her terms, maintaining an eccentricity and electricity so unique and inspired that she never appears to sell out. On her second solo long player away from Moloko, she collaborates with a collection of ground breaking producers including Groove Armada and Seiji of Bugz In The Attic. This video, also brilliantly directed by Jamie Thraves @ Factory, is an amazing contrasting send-up of Roisin's post-glamourous performance persona. Watch as she traipses around London performing mundane tasks such as riding the bus home, buying after-hour chips at the local kebab shop, and collect her laundry, all while garbed in a ridiculously over the top Gareth Pugh dress. ALI LOVE: Secret Sunday Lover

As featured on the latest Chemical Brothers track, the world is ready for a little oversaturation burn on Mr. Ali Love. The London based electro funkster brings some groovy pop hooks to the table on his debut solo single, and director Ben Ib drops some serious science fiction on this hypercolour video. Drawing inspiration from classic retro futurist properties such as Logan's Run and Battlestar Galactica, this groovy little video is sure to please the geek set. Watch the music video (qt).

THE BEES: Listening Man

Okay. Here's my tiny rant: why the hell is this goddamn record only available on import? I walked into the local record store and to my delight, this lovely third album from The Bees was on sale! On closer inspection, it was priced at $32.99. HIGHWAY effing ROBBERY! Why is it that record labels are soooo consumed with stupid chart topping crap acts? Are they trying to drive me to P2P downloading? I should have picked it up while in London and ate the exchange rate. Well, these blokes from the Isle of Wright and their psychedelic ways are supposed to be released stateside June 5th. So if you like their flavour as much as I do, go go plastic. UNKLE: Burn My Shadow

Tipster Phillip A. points us to the latest from UK hipster tripsters lead by James Lavelle, UNKLE. The Cult singer Ian Astbury joins for the latest single, melding his trademark The Cult personae with driving rock percussion and frantic panicked energy. Aptly reflected by director Miguel Sapochnik in the video, actor Goran Visnjic turns into a ticking timebomb. From the forthcoming long player, War Stories, out July 2007. THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS: Do It Again

The Chemical Brothers are at it again with a brand new slice of electropop in the vein of a pumped up Hot Chip. Enlisting funkster vocalist Ali Love, what the track lacks in block rocking break beats, it compensates for in pop sensibility. The new album, We Are The Night, is delayed until July 17th due to problems with the "production of the album artwork." Michael Haussman directs the convulsing, compulsive Moroccan take on the Gods Must Be Crazy vs the Heist. Watch the music video (qt).

AMY WINEHOUSE: Back To Black

To dash the constant press of her drunken exploits, Amy Winehouse's spin doctors have saw it fit to release a an interview stating her love of music is paramount to her love of the drink and that she has recently converted into a gym monkey. So does this mean no more spills and sloppiness for her upcoming shows? I am really looking forward to seeing how she behaves at this year's Toronto V-Fest. Watch the music video (qt).

M.I.A.: Boyz

Okay. I'm back from a hiatus. Where the hell was I? Well, let's see... Lisbon, Istanbul, New York and Toronto. So if there is some concern over where I was, let's just say I've been rather occupied and without laptop. Glad to be back and sorry to be so AWOL, but I must confess, being unplugged for a couple of weeks did feel good. So here's a new video from a favourite artist of mine: the rebel fusionist electro grime innovator M.I.A. Her latest continues her style evolution to the towards the Diplo-esque ragga Baile funk. This video, despite her increasing popularity, keeps it bit-mapped and rough around the edges. Watch the music video (qt).
