THESE NEW PURITANS: Elvis

When your personally commisioned by Hedi Slimane to compose his last mens runway collection for Dior Homme, you kinda know you've already made it with some significantly influential taste makers. Such is the case with London post punksters These New Puritans. Said fashion show features a 15 minute soundtrack so angularly stylish, the press could not help but pay attention. So what was the connection? The apparent link the the fashion design lies with one of the band members being part of Hedi's design team. Quick top deny the overly primped association with high fashion vanity, the band readily distance themselves from being the shallow side of the fashion business, concentrating on the music itself, and not the gloss. HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR: Blind

This track essential tore apart the runaways of the recent fashion weeks across the world. Featuring the mesmerizing vocals of Antony Hegarty, last seen dueting with Bjork, you can imaging a bunch of sashaying fashionists delicately, dispassionately dancing to the saxophone infused tempo. It's an amazingly sophisticated track that stands proudly amongst a backdrop of harsh electrofied fakers. The rest of the album is reported to be just as outstanding. DFA does it yet again. KLAXONS: It's Not Over Yet

New rave poster boys Klaxons have a special relationship with director Saam. On their latest video, the boys suit up in avant garde samurai suits and sword to take on sentient triangloids in a Aeon Flux like future state. It markes their third collaboration with the director and perhaps a trinity of eye bleeding and smashing stuff with sticks. Colourful. Watch the music video (qt).

KLAXONS: Golden Skans

Psychedelic pop or new rave? London's Klaxons' second music video lifted off their recently released debut, Myths Of The Near Future, will perhaps tip your assessment to the indie rock camp. However, if you are a model stalking Fashion Week celebutard, you probably would have heard a dozen repetitions of various Klaxon remixes dominating both catwalk and fashion pack after-party while drinking rosé with P. Diddy and Stam. Meanwhile, for the rest of us normal body-fat indexed people, we have this video to enjoy, directed by SAAM and featuring costumes that could have easily come off some avant garde London runway. KLAXONS: Magick

Oh boy. Here comes the waves of hype like a freaking tidal wave. The fine London purveyors of New Rave (I know, it just sounds manufactured by overzealous music journalists) are on the precipice of kicking down some hip youth demographic myspacian threshold of critical and more-relevant-than-thou success. And by success, I mean shifting a bunch of CD's via Urban Outfitters and the rest being file shared through MP3 blogs and the like. And while the music is an interesting mash-up of white rock, electro and punk genres, it's ultimate test will be how it fares with that fickle North American audience, which has become so fractured and unrecognizable to mainstream programmers, they tragically default to tried and true (i.e. bankable) pap such as blingy hip-hop R&B, and expired alt-rock regurge from the mid-90's.
