TWO HOURS TRAFFIC: Stuck For The Summer

You're probably wonder why there has been so little action at cliptip the past week. Well, I have been pretty sick. So sick I've been sucking down the prescription codeine like a whore at midnight. Cough Cough. In addition, I will have to send my powerbook to the men they call Mac Geniuses today to get some some hardware fixed. Needless to say there may be some sloooow action for the next couple of days too. And the thing that really pisses me off is that it's summer. And summer is so fleeting in Montreal. So precious and so rapidly fleeting. Soon it will be dark and cold. Here's one of my indie pop favourites from Prince Edward Island. It's a tiny province in Canada (the tiniest) and this song is so instantly infectious that I hope you love it too. But not bad infectious like my malicious chronic bronchitis. That's the devil's work infectious. Delightly rustic video directed by the incomporable Yael Stav. Watch the music video (qt).

MARK RONSON: Oh My God

Believe it or not, Who Framed Roger Rabbit is now almost 20 years old. Holy Bejebus that means I'm getting old. And as all self respecting cartoon-slash-live-action pop film deserve, Mark Ronson's latest single pays tribute is music video form. Enlisting the directorial skills of Nima Nourizadeh and the vocal skills of potty mouth pop princess Lily Allen, Mark funkafies the Kaiser Chiefs punk anthem. Ironically, Lily plays the cartoon temptress while the Kaisers make the cameo. Watch the music video (qt).

EDITORS: Smokers Outside The Hospital

The battle for the moppiest Joy Divion-esque band in pulling into full gear. In one corner, the forthcoming third longplayer from New York's Interpol. In this corner, it's Birmingham's own dour quartet with the lead single off their sophomore collection, An End Has A Start. So strap on your skinny ties, Slimane cut suits and affected summer malaise, because its going to be one epic of a moody summer. Directed in full Jesus water walking glory in stunning Prague by the Icelandic collective and former Gusgusians, Arni & Kinski. Watch the music video (qt).

BATTLES: Atlas

Can anyone categorize the sound of Battles? Is it prog rock, electro rock, glam rock, alt rock or psychedelica? I've got no idea, but this first video from their latest long player Mirrors is a rollicking thumper with weird vocal overlays and serious T. Rex percussion. The video is a beauty: glass boxed, dynamic angles and vivid rich colour saturations directed by photographer Timothy Saccenti. Cheers to tipster Jesse M. Watch the music video (qt).
