HARD-FI: Hard To Beat

Hard-Fi's meteoric rise to the top of the British charts can only be compared to the North American equivalent of the Killers. Both hard working bands with an undeniably infectious pop sound. Both bands originated out of cultural wastelands, Hard-Fi from suburban Staines, while the Killers from soulless tourist trap Las Vegas. And while Hard-Fi was defeated by genderbender Antony and the Johnsons for the coveted Mercury Prize award in 2005, their mainstream appeal kept them in higher chart position.
